News Story

A 19-year-old Locust Valley woman recently showed why there are still good individuals in the world when she returned $300,00 to a local bank on Christmas Eve.
While cycling on Dec. 14th, Laura Hardy found a manila envelope on the sidewalk. Until she got home she had no idea that the envelope contained $300,000 in cash and checks made out to local car dealership, Fenster Ford. Once she realized what was in the envelope she contacted Lincoln Federal Savings and returned the money. While most people would’ve not thought twice about returning the money Hardy said, “it’s enough just to do the right thing.” Hardy rode her bike 10 miles on Christmas Eve to make sure the money was returned to its rightful owner.

Following Hardy’s return of the money Fred Fenster, owner of Fenster Ford, said, “She’s a great little girl, the kind of girl we in Lincoln should be proud of.”
